Overview
A sequence of conceptual units has been developed in order to realize the aforementioned goals and objectives and these units facilitate a meaningful progression of learning throughout projects.
The Volume 1 “Haruichiban”
The Kisetsu Volume 1, Haruichiban, consists of two preliminary sections and two conceptual units: Encounter and Awareness. Haruichiban emphasizes both oral and writing skills with structured self-introduction and tactics of daily conversation. Haruichiban improves learners’ decision making, problem solving and critical thinking skills through projects.
The Volume 2 “Ginga”
The Kisetsu Volume 2, Ginga, consists of two conceptual units: Reflection and Environment. Ginga emphasizes encouragement of autonomous learners, recognition of text styles and audience, and connection between writing and reading comprehension.
Volume 3 “Akimatsuri”
Kisetsu Volume 3, Akimatsuri, consists of 3 parts: Momiji (autumn leaves), Icho (gingko), and Kuri (chestnut). Each part is a book by itself. The theme of Akimatsuri is “perspectives.” Akimatsuri emphasizes encouragement of interactive conversation through directing a play, comprehension and creation of a story-like autobiography written for a particular audience, effective procedures to conduct an interview, and publication of newspaper and other mass-media.
